Well, it took less than 24 hours for President-Elect Obama to disappoint me. My worse fears have come true–he picked Rahm Emanuel as his Chief of Staff.
You will remember that many of us went after Emanuel after he decided to go anti-immigrant. In fact, Emanuel sponsored the SAVE Act with bigot Tom Tancredo, which was quite the punitive piece of legislation. Here’s a post where I list numerous posts by pro-migrant bloggers on Emanuel. If Obama wants a fight on comprehensive immigration reform, he’ll get one. Let’s hope the appointment of Emanuel doesn’t lead to bad legislation that will lead Obama to a political downfall in 2012. Because as easily as he got 66% of the Latino vote, these same voters will respond against bad and punitive legislation. Just ask the Republicans!

Give Obama at least a chance to become President before you start pulling out the threats. Now is the time for back slapping not for ass kicking. Rest, have a drink, take a chill pill, or just celebrate with you mom.
No, I am not saying give President Obama a pass on the things you disagree with about. What I am saying is give President-Elect Obama a chance to live down or up to your expectations.
As for me, I will wait and watch; and trust in the first glimmers of hope that I haven’t felt in a very long time.
Oh by the way, its a good time to have a baby don’t you think. That’s right soon there will be a new Bud for Wonko. He’ll have the same name as his dad except in spanish.
