Bizarro Attack on Ed; EV Ends Strong

Rick Casey at the Chron gives some coverage to the direct mail blitz which attacks District H run-off candidate Ed Gonzalez.  I couldn’t have said it better myself…or did I?

Actually, I’m glad the mainstream local media has grabbed hold of this.  I always expect two first-time candidates to have a lively campaign, but I don’t expect much mud.  Ultimately, the mailings show that “politics as usual” are alive and well, but I’m glad to see Ed Gonzalez’s badge still shining bright.

And if we really want to talk about how dirty politics can get, who’s hands get dirtier:  A volunteer community liaison who mainly deals with constituents, or a chief of staff who moves and shakes in the halls of  city government?

According to the folks at the County, 2,188 people voted during the early period, including 726 by mail.  278 voted in-person on the last day of early voting.  With a few more days for mail ballots to arrive, folks are wondering what will occur on Election Day?
