HCDPs Evening Brown Bag: GLBT Movement in Houston

Want to learn some local political history? HCDP is holding their monthly Evening Brown bag tonight featuring leaders of the GLBT movement, past, present and future, discussing the state of the movement.  The power of the GLBT movement becomes more and more pronounced with every election cycle–more candidates and enhanced efforts. So, this is definitely a must-attend event celebrating one of the groups under the Democratic big tent.

Join the Harris County Democratic Party, the Harris County Young Stonewall Democrats, and the Harris County Stonewall Democrats for our Evening Brown Bag program on Tuesday, June 23 at 6:30 p.m. at the Harris County Democratic Party headquarters as we focus on the history and future of the gay and lesbian political movement in Houston. (Note – this month only the program will be held on the fourth Tuesday, rather than the customary fourth Thursday, because of the County Executive Committee Meeting on Thursday, June 25.)

Judge Steven Kirkland will moderate and speakers will be Ray Hill, self-described “citizen provocateur” and long time gay activist, Sue Lovell, Houston City Councilwoman and Democratic National Committee member, and Kris Banks, president of the HGLBT Political Caucus and past president of the Houston Young Stonewall Democrats. They will discuss the Houston gay political movement – where it has been, where it is now, and where it is going. A very lively discussion is expected. Please attend.
