Who’s Managing Addie?

Apparently, whomever is managing Addie Wiseman’s HD-127 does not know much about voter targeting, unless she thinks Democrats are going to cross over for her anti-immigrant rantings.  My sis the precinct chair in Kingwood received mail requesting her financial and other support to the Addie Wiseman campaign.  My sis is a “16-D” (loyal) Democratic Primary voter since age 18, so how my sis got on the GOP radar to receive a letter that starts, “Dear Fellow Republican,” is beyond me.

By the way, Wiseman is also spreading lies, “The State of Texas cannot sit idly by while the federal government reduces the number of border agents…”  According to the National Immigration Forum, more than enough resources has been given to the border while allowing the system itself to continue its streak of ineffectiveness.  But did we expect anything of substance from her and the other HD-127 wing-nuts?

Tropa F Loses Matriarch to Alzheimer’s

DC sends condolences to the family of Teresia Farias, mother of famed Tejano group La Tropa F.

An ultimate fan and roadie, she traveled everywhere with the all-male group, cooking, ironing and assigning beds.

[...]

Even before the heady days of Tejano in the ’90s, the band was on the road a lot, playing dance halls in Michigan, Kansas and Illinois, he said.

“We’d stop at icehouses to buy bologna and bread,” son Jesse Farias said, adding that his mother was the only person in the audience at some gigs.

Farouk Makes It Official

DC welcomes Farouk Shami to the list of Democratic candidates running for Texas Governor.  Farouk certainly brings a fresh, new face to politics, while selling his remarkable story:

He came to America 44 years ago with $71 in his pocket and achieved the American dream. He’s built a company based in Houston that has created thousands of jobs in Texas, including 1,200 new manufacturing jobs from a plant he closed in China so he could bring those jobs to America.

Frankly, I think this is the type of story that can sell in most parts of Texas.  What’s even better is that he doesn’t need to sell out to special interests as he is willing to invest his own money, while raising money from the people.

Update:  Reports that Farouk gave to Republicans will not help his cause in a Democratic Primary.  That he gave money to Ted Poe is even more disturbing.

And Then There Was a Third Poll

Looks like KHOU has their own Mayoral poll which has the race too close to call.  Frankly, I even think Annise Parker’s 17-point poll lead is too close.  Both candidates will need work to get their respective bases out.  Still, after reading the methodology on the KHOU poll, it seems they have continued in their usual manner of asking registered voters if they are likely to vote, instead of building a poll of known likely voters.  They apparently also asked about continued support from the first round, which if they used the same methodology wouldn’t really target respondents who actually voted in the first round all that effectively.  Hopefully, KUHF.org will update their site with the whole explanation since news stations usually don’t give us enough, well, news.

Are ICE Audits Racial Profiling?

I really would like to see the list of companies that ICE is putting on notice.  Food Service?  Janitorial?  Construction?  Places where Latinos usually work?  Sounds like profiling to me.

Have a good weekend, folks!  Early Voting begins November 30th!
