ABC13′s people did not ask the right question regarding endorsements given by divisive people. The question should have been: DO YOU REJECT STEVEN HOTZE’S ENDORSEMENT?
Obviously, Gene Locke did not answer the question even as posed by ABC-13, instead, giving his canned “I love diversity” response. While that may appease Hotze, I’m not sure right-wingers who buy into Hotze’s message will buy it. Kind of like when a Democrat goes totally anti-immigrant in a Republican district for votes–it just doesn’t work.
And what about the Lobbyist question? Muse-Musings provides some truth to Gene Locke’s denial that he is not a lobbyist. According to the Texas Ethics Commission, Locke has been a lobbyist representing the Harris County Sports Authority. Ortez at HairBalls provides more commentary and questions.
Heck, even his special interest law firm tells you he is one:
“…the firm’s lawyers represent public and private clients in lobbying efforts…”
Sure, they might say that’s the Austin office, but there’s a whole lotta lobbying going on at City Hall, County Commissioners Court, and any agency with a hidden back room for lobbyists and contractors. That’s just reality. Why avoid the truth?
