Bill White Announces for Texas Governor

“I’m Bill White and I want to be the next Governor of the great state of Texas.”

And with that , the Mayor of Texas’ largest city announced that he is running for Governor of Texas.

Before a large crowd of Democrats, Independents, and Republicans who braved the change in weather that only Texas offers, Bill White gave a rousing speech which touched on the need to improve Texas public education, clamp down on companies who pollute our clean air, make Texas the leader in alternative energy, and to do it all through inclusive leadership that brings people together.

Bill White offers a record of bringing Houston together–even during the roughest of times after Hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Ike.

White also spoke to the oft-stated criticism of his style of campaigning.

“I don’t have the polish of career politicians. But as a businessman and Mayor I know how to be accountable for results, not just rhetoric. I have a track record of bringing people together to get things done,” White said. “That’s what Texas needs now.”

At this time, DosCentavos.net would like to withdraw his endorsement of Bill White for U.S. Senate and re-issue it to Bill White for Texas Governor.

REACTION:

Senator Rodney Ellis:  ”I am thrilled that Bill White has decided to run for Governor of Texas. The gubernatorial race promises to be exciting for both parties and I believe Bill White is the candidate to energize and mobilize the democratic base and moderate republicans. As mayor, Bill has done so much for Houston in terms of economic growth and development, progressive environmental policy, and smart social services. I have no doubt that Bill can and will deliver for Texas the way that he has for Houston. He’s been a long time friend and respected colleague. I look forward to supporting him in this fight every step of the way.”
