The Coalition of Unelected Democratic Activists (CUDA)

Yes, there’s a new organization of Democratic activists that is going to start doling out endorsements soon.  Look out for their endorsements!

Hispanic Forum–This Saturday

Another Houston Hispanic Forum Career Day is on Saturday at the George R. Brown at 9AM.  I haven’t received any particulars from Dem folks, but I think there will be a contingent of Democrats there.  My friend Edward Ybarra will also be there with the Tony Marron Voter Registration Project (thanks to Campos for the heads up).  Lots of volunteer opportunities, or just to walk around wearing some campaign tees.

The Sheriff’s Budget & the GOP

Since the GOP doesn’t have much to rail on local Dems for 2010, looks like the Sheriff having to spend money on Republican Judge’s failures of imposing unaffordable bonds on the accused, thus keeping the jail filled will have to do.  Since the Sheriff spends the money, they can spin it that way.

CIR NOW!

Yes, yet another academic study tells us that immigrant legalization will be a boon to the economy.  Why haven’t we passed CIR?  Because of bigots like Lamar Smith who attempt to pit people against each other.

Highlights From The CEC

Our 2010 Class of judicial candidates and others picked their ballot positions last night.   Some of my faves picked #1, others not so much, but that’s OK.  They all have a couple of months to make themselves known; and I hope to be a help to them.

Julia Maldonado for the 308th and Nile Copeland for the 234th

Juliet Kathy Stipeche for the 281st and Jim Sullivan for 248th

Javier Valenzuela for the Civil County Court #3
