“Twelve million illegal immigrants later, we are now living in a nation that is beset by people who are suicidal maniacs and want to kill countless innocent men, women and children around the world…”
No, that’s potential right-wing candidate Fred “I can act like a president” Thompson. Yeah, he did sound like ol’ Roy huh?
McCain’s response? “I travel around the country extensively and that’s certainly not the impression I have,” McCain said. “I have not detected a nation full of suicidal maniacs.”
Meanwhile, Giuliani seems to be campaigning for the intolerant Thompson, rather than being the pro-immigrant moderate we all know he is. Note to Giuliani: If you want to beat Thompson, you need to attack him when he opens himself up for attack; simple campaign advice.
Thompson’s mouthpiece says he didn’t mean immigrants were suicidial maniacs.
Let’s see: “Twelve million illegal immigrants later, we are now living in a nation that is beset by people who are suicidal maniacs…”
Sounds pretty clear to me, and it was exactly Thompson’s intent to compare terrorists to hard-working immigrants who appreciate America.
