Support Talento Bilingue de Houston

Sunday would have been a lazy day for me had it not been for NHPO’s Crawfish Boil in support of Talento Bilingue de Houston.

TBH is a jewel in the East End (just outside of Downtown on Jensen) that has provided all of Houston a dose of the arts and culture, as well as creative space for over 26 years. Built to be “the” Latino cultural arts center for the Houston area, the facility itself is top-notch and one of the focal points in Houston’s arts community. Plus, the director of operations, Javier Perez, is a cool dude.

That said, the quickly-planned crawfish boil was a success with dozens in attendance enjoying some awesome mudbugs, dogs, and burgers–and a few brews. At $10 for a hefty plate (or 20 bucks for all you could eat), it was quite the deal. The big treat was the music of Sister Sister y Los Misters and DJ Jumpin’ Jess. All of this to support TBH’s efforts.

And that’s why, to continue the effort, I’ve added a donation button for Talento Bilingue de Houston to the site (look to the right) . In case you all feel like not ordering Starbucks or a taco every now and then, give your savings to TBH.

Sidenote:  It was good seeing District I candidates Ben Mendez and Robert Gallegos who stopped by during their Sunday flesh-pressing session.
