Susan Criss To Make Run for HD-23
One of my favorite jurists in the State of Texas, Susan Criss, submitted her resignation to the Guv today so that she can make a run for Texas House District 23, which is made up of Chambers County and a little less than half of Galveston County. The post was previously held by Craig Eiland, which he won in 2012 with almost 54% of the vote.
Criss is a tireless campaigner and I was proud to endorse her in her run for Supreme Court–a task which actually got my quote about her on one of her push cards. I’m a big fan of hers and her dad, Lloyd. No doubt, there will be a lot of my friends supporting her. Best of luck to Susan. (I think I can call her Susan, now.)
Speaking of Filing for Office
No, not me! But if you want to run for something, you have until Monday, December 9th, in the afternoon to file. If you’re wondering what offices are up, here is a nice little list from the Secretary of State. I haven’t heard of any viable folks for County Judge, County Commish Pct. 2, and there’s even an HCDE post–Position 1, which represents Precinct 2. Sign up!
Thanks to James Dinkins, treasurer of the Robert Gallegos for District I camp, for reminding me to remind folks that they can still file for office. Some don’t seem to want contested races, but, it seems to be happening. So, let’s have some fun and drive up turn-out!
Maxey Scherr is Running for Senate
Kuff has more on this, but I like this first web-vid for Scherr’s campaign. It’s the right message that can definitely carry on through to November. Anyone else offering anything?
