Finally! A Citywide Latino Candidate!

I received an e-mail this morning about an At-Large 1 candidate who just happens to be Hispanic, and it looks like he’s picking up a lot of community support.  Let me tell you, I am glad to see a Latino candidate for this November’s ballot that is campaigning hard because it helps bring out the Hispanic vote.

I met Rick Rodriguez recently and I must say that he’s a nice guy, knows his issues, and more than anything, he is everywhere!  Let me tell you, any candidate that goes fishing for votes at softball tournaments and your not “usual” political events gets an “A” in campaign practices.

If you haven’t met him, you can learn about him here.  Rodriguez has been an HPD officer since 1986 and is a part of their Criminal Intelligence division.  He just finished a run for District H and when that campaign was completed, he continued campaigning for At-Large 1.

For many of us, his addition to the ballot makes our choice tougher.  At-Large 1 has some good candidates and many voters may be undecided up until they get to the E-Slate.  I hope to see Mr. Rodriguez make a trek to my neck of the woods soon.
